Florence is well-connected with the rest of Italy and with Europe, and is easy to get to by air or land.
The main Tuscany airports are in Pisa and Florence, both of which have regular national and international flight connections.

How to reach Florence and the congress venue

By plane
Florence International Airport "Amerigo Vespucci" (connected to the main European cities) IATA CODE: FLR

It is located 4 km (2.5 miles) from Florence and it can be reached by taxi (20 minutes) or by the shuttle bus Vola in bus, a special connection service from/to the Vespucci Airport and Santa Maria Novella train station, jointly run by ATAF and SITA.

It is located in Pisa, 60 km (38 miles) from Florence and it can be reached in 1 hour by train from Santa Maria Novella train station, in Florence: three trains every hour for Pisa C.le and Pisa Airport from 06.00 a.m. to 22.00 p.m.

By car
An efficient motorway network connects Florence to the rest of Italy and Europe. The Congress Center is just 4 km (2.5 miles) from the main Italian motorway (the A1: Autostrada Del Sole - Exit Firenze Nord). Large parking areas are near the Congress Center.

By train
There are 4 train stations (www.trenitalia.com) in Florence. We suggest to stop at Santa Maria Novella Central Station:

  1. Santa Maria Novella Central Station: 80/100 metres from the Congress Center
  2. Rifredi: approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) away
  3. Campo di Marte: 1,5 km ca.

Language
English is the official congress language.

Smoking policy
The whole congress area is a no smoking area. We remind you that smoking in Italy is forbidden in all public areas.

Visa Requirements
If you need a VISA to enter Italy, please apply in due time and contact the Embassy of Italy in your country. For information, you can also visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, www.esteri.it, and click on Visa for Italy link.
If you need a letter to be sent to an Embassy, please ensure you give us a working fax number. You must have submitted your conference registration form prior to requesting a letter of invitation. Letter of invitation does not imply provision of financial or other support.

Currency
The unit of currency is Euro.
Currency can be changed at banks and ATMs. Normal bank opening times are Monday to Friday, 8.30 to 13.30 and 14.30 to 15.30. Credit cards are widely accepted.


Electricity
Electricity used in Italy is 220 Volts, its frequency is 50 Hz and the plugs have two male contact points. Plan to bring a transformer if your electrical device has a different voltage.

Taxis
